✔️ You've read the birth books

✔️ You've packed the hospital bag

✔️ You feel (mostly) ready for labour

And then someone hands you a tiny human and… now what?

Most prenatal classes spend hours on birth and a quick five minutes on "and then you take your baby home”. But those first weeks - the fourth trimester - are where new parents can feel the most lost.

The marathon feeds. The evening fussiness. The "how do I even…?" moments that pile up fast - all of it completely normal.

This workshop helps fill in those gaps, unlock new skills, and gives you the confidence to trust your intuition as a new parent.

Most prenatal classes give you the postpartum + newborn survival basics

This one goes further 🤍

Real depth, not a five-minute mention.

We dig into the whole 4th Trimester: soothing, feeding, sleep, and your own recovery - not just how to change a diaper (we cover that too 🙂).

Hands-on babywearing.

As a Certified Babywearing Educator, I bring real carriers so you can get live-demos and hands-on experience with one of the most effective ways to comfort and bond with your newborn.

A doula's eye on YOU, too.

This isn't only about your baby. We cover your physical recovery, nourishment and the postpartum mental-health picture, honestly - because you matter just as much.

What We'll Cover

  • The Fourth Trimester, For Real - what to actually expect, and permission to find it hard.

  • Getting to Know Your Newborn - appearance, reflexes, cues, early bonding, and your soothing toolkit for a crying baby.

  • Daily Care, Hands-On - diapering, cord care, bathing, swaddling, burping, dressing - practiced on dolls.

  • Babywearing - safe + healthy wearing, carrier types, and hands-on fitting with real wraps and carriers.

  • Feeding in the Real World - latch basics, establishing a feeding relationship, cluster feeding, pumping, paced bottle feeding, and when to get some extra help.

  • Sleep, Realistically - safe sleep done right (Canadian guidance) and what newborn sleep truly looks like.

  • Recovery & Wellness for You - physical healing, postpartum nourishment, and the postpartum mood spectrum.

  • Building Your Village - visitor boundaries, the partner's role, and your West Kootenay resource map.

A relaxed, hands-on half-day together. Here's the flow:

Wear your newborn baby with confidence.

Demonstrating a ring sling baby carrier at a Nelson workshop

I'll bring a newborn stretchy wrap, a ring sling, and a soft-structured carrier (like the Ergo Embrace- my favourite!) so you can feel the difference and find what works for you, and your body.

Want to ask about a carrier you already own? Bring it along.

Looking for more one-on-one help? Or want try-before-you-buy?

I also offer private in-home babywearing consultations and try-on sessions - before or after baby arrives.

I bring all the carriers; you get personalized fitting & carrier recommendations tailored to you, your partner, and your baby.

Workshop FAQs

  • First-time parents (or anyone wanting a fourth-trimester refresher). Partners are warmly encouraged - that’s why they’re included in the price.

  • Just yourselves! I provide the demo dolls, the carriers, and your take-home workbook. Feel free to bring a carrier you own if you have any questions.

  • Yes! I offer private, virtual sessions of The Newborn Days Workshops, anywhere in Canada and the US. Contact me to learn more and book your session.

  • Life with a baby on the way is wonderfully unpredictable, so here's how it works: cancel 10 or more days before class and you'll get a full refund. Within 10 days I'm not able to refund - it's a small group and spots can be difficult to fill last-minute - but you're always welcome to transfer your registration to a future date, or credit your registration fee to a 1:1 virtual or private in-person workshop. And if baby arrives early or something medical comes up, whenever it happens, just reach out and we'll move your spot to an upcoming class. If I ever need to cancel or reschedule a class myself, you'll get a full refund or the option to transfer.
