About Bump Club
The first rule of Bump Club is:
We definitely talk about Bump Club
Pregnancy, and the journey to parenthood is a huge season of life - and it can feel surprisingly lonely when no one around you is in it too.
Laine and Sarah have experienced first-hand the feelings of isolation that often come with the transition through pregnancy and into new parenthood.
That's exactly why we started the Kootenay Bump Club. It's a low-key, come-as-you-are space to grab a drink or snack, sit down with other local pregnant folk, and build the kind of friendships that carry you through pregnancy, maternity/parental leave, and beyond.
Good company, real talk, and a little community village that gets it.
Whether you're newly expecting, growing your family, or somewhere on the road to parenthood - there's a seat at the table for you.
Let’s spread the word and build the community and friendships that support new and growing families 🤍
About Bump Club
What to Expect
Show up, order a tea or coffee, and settle in.
We'll be there to say hi, make introductions, and get the conversation flowing so you never have to do the awkward "who do I sit with" thing.
Chat about whatever's on your mind - the exciting pregnancy stuff, the weird pregnancy stuff - all of it!
As local doulas, we're always happy to share resources, info, and support, but this isn't a class or a workshop. It's a hangout. Come once, come every month, come late, come with a friend — whatever works for you 🙂
Who it’s For
First-time pregnant folks, people growing their families, and anyone on the journey to parenthood in Nelson and the surrounding West Kootenays. Trying to conceive, freshly expecting, or waddling toward your due date — this is an inclusive space and all are welcome here 🌈

Nope! Just show up. There's no sign-up, no commitment. That said, if you want to give us a heads-up that you're coming (or ask a question first), we'd love that - DM us on Instagram anytime at @thebirthlaine or @alpineprenatal.
-
Yes, there is no fee associated with joining the group. We do meet at a café, so we'd encourage you to grab a drink or treat to support Izzy's while you're there.
-
Any stage is welcome: including "not pregnant yet but hoping to be." Newly expecting, third trimester, or trying to conceive - this is a safe space.
-
Absolutely. Growing your family is another big transition, and connecting with other parents-to-be is just as valuable the second (or third!) time around.
-
We get it - walking into a room of strangers is intimidating, especially when you're tired and hormonal (been there!). That's exactly why we're there: to greet you, make introductions, and get things rolling. It’s our hope that folks come not knowing anyone and leave with a new parental leave buddy or two.
-
Yes! Apart from their ahh-mazing Ice Strawberry Matcha, we picked Izzy’s Cafe Market because of their accessibility (ramp access and accessible washroom) and have free parking out-front (tough to find in this town!).

Join Us on our dedicated Kootenay Bump Club Facebook Group - an extension of these meet-ups, focused on creating connection, community, and sharing resources for pregnant folks and growing families.
You can also follow along on Instagram @thebirthlaine and @alpineprenatal for reminders before each third Tuesday.
Your Hosts
The Kootenay Bump Club is hosted by Sarah & Laine two local friends, moms, and doulas who love this community.
Sarah Cicchine — @alpineprenatal
Certified Birth Doula & Registered Massage TherapistSarah has been fascinated by pregnancy and birth for as long as she can remember, and feels lucky to now support families through these life-changing moments. Her approach blends a deep understanding of the body with evidence-based education, hands-on comfort, and a calm, grounded presence.
